Why we take recycling batteries seriously.

Some household batteries contain heavy metals such as lead, mercury or cadmium which are harmful to the environment. If waste batteries are not recycled they will are likely to be sent to a landfill site where they begin to breakdown. When the batteries begin to degrade, the heavy metals and chemicals in the batteries can leak from the waste batteries. This can cause soil and water pollution, which may lead to health risks.

Recycling ensures that the waste batteries are disposed of responsibly and that some of the materials can be recovered and used for making new batteries and other products. Recycling helps to ensure that waste materials can be reused and can save some of the planet`s resources by reducing the need to mine new materials.
